Tennis

La Camarilla provides year-round play on its 16 outdoor courts.

Our tennis staff, all certified, have developed a well-rounded program of lessons, clinics, leagues and social tennis activities for adults and juniors of all ability levels. La Camarilla is a proud recipient of the Phoenix area USTA award for Facility of the Year!.

Our Staff:

Roger Furman, USPTA certified, our Director of Tennis and General Manager was recently recognized for his 20 years of service to the game.  Previous to joining La Camarilla, he coached local, Missouri Valley, and nationally ranked players at all age levels and was even selected to coach the St. Louis National Junior City Team.  Roger was a former collegiate player and he brings the enthusiasm and energy from those playing days into La Camarilla's tennis programs.  He was also very active in the Adult Interclub League in St. Louis and lends his coaching and organizational experience to La Camarilla.

Tom Kollock, USPTA certified, has over 19 years of experience teaching tennis professionally.  Tom's ventures on the court have taken him all over the United States, where he received titles of Sportsman of the Year and was a Collegiate All-American.  In 1989, Tom finished with a ranking of 2nd in the Men's 35 Singles and 1st in the 35 Mixed Doubles for the Southwest Region.

Dan Stablein who relocated here from Albuquerque, NM brings another USPTA certification to our program.  Along with those creditentials, he has coaching experience ranging from high school (three-time coach of the year in Wisconsin) right on through ladies and mens' teams, Special Olympics athletes, State and section ranking players and even a tenure as USPTA Southwest Section Coordinator.

Tim McClintock (not pictured) has over 17 years of experience as a tennis teaching professional.  USPTA certified, he has taught in Pennsylvania, New York and locally at the John Gardiner's Tennis Resort in Scottsdale. While back East at Penn State University, Tim was a ranked player, worked with everybody from beginners to ranked players and established himself as a versatile, effective teacher. Joining our staff this year, Tim's latest accomplishment was a professional at New York's prestigious Total Tennis tennis camp.

Cory Rockow is another full time USPTA certified pro on our staff. Cory is not only an accomplished player on the court where he was nationally ranked as a junior and All-Conference while at college; but, he also performed on the academic side of college as a consistent member of the Academic Dean's List. Although only a year out of college, Cory's history already includes five years of teaching tennis. His discipline and tremendous ability to communicate brought him into the team teaching, camp and group program settings very early on. Our pros have nothing but the highest praside for him as a coach and a person all of our juniors can look up to.

As our programs grow we'll continue to bring in top quality, certified professionals like to bolster our staff which is already recognized as one of the best in the Valley.

From l-r: Dan Stablein, Cory Rockow, Tim McClintock, Tom Kollock and Roger Furman, our Tennis Director/General Manager
